The Kia Soul is naught but a second-generation Scion xB with better styling. The Soul is roughly comparable to the xB in size and weight.
I’d classify the Soul as the tall wagon equivalent of a personal coupe. Creating a cheeky image was clearly more important to Kia than achieving high fuel economy via light weight and decent aerodynamics.
This is partly why I wouldn’t classify the Soul as a “simple car.” Go here for cars that come closer to fitting the bill.
