Indie Auto shifts from monthly to weekly

Indie Auto is now updating its front page weekly rather than monthly. This is less of a change than you might think. We had already been producing enough content to fill a weekly front page.

In a way Indie Auto is following in the footsteps of the Auto Extremist, which posts new content weekly. The main difference is that we continue to offer a magazine format.

Indie Auto adds a new lead story each week but keeps indepth pieces on the front page for longer periods of time. How long can vary, partly depending upon reader response.

Our goal is to avoid one of the biggest problems with blogs. Their short and long pieces fall off their front page with equal speed. The result is that clickbait can swamp the good stuff.

As in the past, our updated front page includes a mix of newly published stories and reposted ones. This is similar to Curbside Classic, which also reposts a portion of its content.

Indie Auto’s reposts are often updated. This is in response to new research as well as reader feedback. As discussed here, this a key aspect of our journalistic approach.
